CCSD Elementary School Students Compete at Annual Math Tournament
Cherokee County School District’s top “mathletes” participated in the fourth annual CCSD Elementary School Math Competition, with Avery Elementary School named the overall champion!
Fourth- and fifth-grade students from across the school district tested their math skills in individual and team competitions during the event at Freedom Middle School earlier this month. The school with the highest combined individual and team scores won the overall district trophy: Avery ES earned first-place honors, with Arnold Mill ES earning second place, and Hickory Flat ES earning third place.
The Avery ES team is made up of fifth-graders, Brooks Barton, Mackenzie Giambalvo, Reyaansh Guatam, Adithya Logeswaran, Joseph Mason, and Preston Reiter; and fourth-graders, LJ Brzykcy, Blakely Lord, Everett McMillen, Adalynn Renney, Weston Shoaff, and Charlotte Tyler. Their coaches are teachers Travis Grooms, Makay Morgan and Aubany Tomsovic.
