CCSD Students Win at Tech Fair, Advancing to State
Cherokee County School District students scored at this year’s Student Technology Competition, with 39 placing first at regions and now advancing to the state contest!
The statewide Georgia Student Technology Competition program includes 16 project categories for students in Grades 3-12. Nearly 200 students from CCSD schools put their technology skills to the test at the five-county Piedmont Regional Technology Competition in January. Students submitted videos to present their projects for judging.
The 39 CCSD students who won first place in their respective categories earned a spot at the statewide competition that will be held in March in Henry County. Students compete in divisions with two grade levels each. Students who earned first, second or third place at the regional event will receive awards of medals or ribbons.
“Congratulations for achieving regional recognition of your outstanding STEM skills – we’re proud of your dedication to learning and innovation,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said. “STEM builds critical thinking skills in all students and opens up more career pathways for them. Thank you to all our STEM teachers and to our CCSD Technology staff who organize this opportunity for competition. Best wishes to those advancing to state competition!”
